Promptl turns writing practice into a game. Daily prompts, point streaks, and confidence — for every kind of writer.
Three simple steps to make writing rewarding
Each session, Promptl generates a name, job, place, object, and bonus word to spark a story.
Use the words however you want. Write 70+ words for points, 100+ for a bonus.
Write daily to keep your streak going. Watch your point total grow over time.
Yes! Promptl is completely free to use. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no ads.
Promptl is designed for kids with learning differences like dyslexia who find writing intimidating — but it works just as well for any kid (or adult!) who wants to make writing more fun. There's no minimum or maximum age.
Most writing prompts give you a starting sentence or topic. Promptl gives you 5 random words and lets you build the story however you want — which lowers the pressure to come up with something "perfect" and makes it feel more like play.
Stories are stored privately and only visible to the account that wrote them. No data is sold to third parties, and stories are never shared publicly. Promptl uses Firebase Authentication (the same tech that powers many major apps) to keep accounts secure.
A teacher dashboard is in development! It will let educators assign writing prompts and view their students' submissions. If you're a teacher interested in early access, reach out below.
Promptl was built by Zoe Droulias, a McGill University Computer Science student, originally inspired by her younger sister who has dyslexia and saw writing as a chore.
